Looking at your pic above I would weld that...
Protect the cable from spatter...run a small bolt thru the clevis with spacers and snug it down once over the cable...spot weld it from the back side...remove the bolt and spacers and spot it from the front...
I've been using .023 wire in my mig so maybe that's why small jobs no longer bother me...
