I use one on the street with good luck so far. Dual Spal 12" fans and the CVR pump and it will run 180 all day long in the hottest heat in the city and under 60 mph. The only thing I have noticed is the car runs a little warmer down the freeway at anything over 60. It's still at 200-205, but it used to stay at 195 so I think the flow is a little low. That may be the case and I may test that by putting a mechanical pump back in to test. Since the 205 degrees doesn't cause issues I don't know that I'll even bother. Time will tell...


There are different factors as you mentioned. One thing to remember is that an electric water pump operates at a constant speed while a mechanical pump varies with RPM. Here's one of the few articles I could find that addresses that issue.
