The carb is a factory Carter AVS. I originally thought that today's cheap gas was just evaporating, but I recently put 110 racing fuel in it and had the same problem. Carb dry after sitting a few days.
Here's what works for me:
'Thick' gasket under an Edelbrock AFB...
Aluminum M-1 intake...
HP mechanical pump...
Proper supply;return;venting;gas cap...
Zero percolation issues...
Zero starting issues...
20+ years of road time, and a LOT of high heat conditions...
