I prefer flat tops, I think they have great flame travel and can still run the number on cheap gas. My 451 with Eddy heads had flat tops and ran 9.89 at 136 with the MP 590 cam, I keep thinking in my head that the rods were 6.76" long, does that sound right? I loved that motor and might build another one just like it.
