That may help direct flow. I was told at least 1 and 3/4 tall and the width of those outside veins in the floor. Pretty much 4 inches wide. Your shape is a little off also. It needs a flat top then rounded to the downhills. This came from someone who built carburetors and modified intakes on cup cars. I know of another modman modified in a very similar way and it cost a ton to have it done by a high end engine shop.
