Don't be silly. As most lifters come from only a few manufacturers, chances are the main body of Lifter X has the same body as Lifter Y and Lifter Z. Now the internal tolerances may be different, but what meets the camshaft is pretty much uniform from lifter to lifter.
Anyhow it's been done literally a hundred million times or more.
