When I took the rear apart, I did find the remnants of about 3 teeth off of the ring and pinion. They were leftovers from a previous breakage b/c the gear in it still had all its teeth. Whoever repaired it didn't do a very thorough cleaning.

FWIW...my Demon had an 8" converter, low gear set 904 (footbraked), 4.86 gears, and 28x10.5 bias ply slicks.
If you plan to run radials, I'd probably lean towards getting some good axles.
