Bosch now owns Sun (along with Kent-Moore, OTC, Robinair, Actron and Miller Tools the Chrysler dealer essential tools), the deal happened in 2012. Previous owner was SPX.

Actron was the maker of the Sun tachs we have all seen for decades, having bought the rights when Sun (the company) was sold off years ago (Snap-on bought the Sun big box testers and owned the license to the Sun name). They (Actron) sold two lines of tachs, one Sun and the other Actron (and a third that didn't go anywhere called Faze).

Anyway, what you are seeing for sale now are Bosch made Sun tachs. Still the same design, made in a Bosch plant. The two retro tachs made by Bosch can be identified in that they do not have the Sun logo, just a blank space. Good luck finding a newer tach with the Sun logo in the retro style, hard to find and have gotten very expensive. If you are not hung up on the Sun logo, these tachs are fine and are a direct replacement for the Sun tachs of the '60's and '70's (but without the need for an external trigger).
