the definition of "shorty" headers over the years has changed somewhat. in the beginning, they were a "center dump, block hugging" design that kinda, sorta fit if there were no important items in the way, such as steering components and crossmembers. lately, that terminology is steered to headers that generally sweep back and terminate at the collector, which is roughly at the back of the cylinder head, which may, or may not, create clearance issues in itself. do you have any pics of what you have in mind to use ?
