The Siera (SP)(educated in CA ) Mtns. stop at Cal City, Antelope Valley area and the San Gabriel Mtns. start 20 miles south Bakersfield is due west from Cal City, the Pacific Mtn. range does the same basic thing ending at the bottom of the Grapevine north of Magic Mtn. I read the Wiki link, I though there where a lot more people in L.A. County than that when we moved out of SO CA in 2005
