Where was the broadcast number applied on the axle tube? I was thinking it was passenger side near the leaf springs looking from the back of the car you would be able to see the numbers
The broadcast number applied by paint stamp to axles was not intended to be viewed after the car was assembled. It's use was to identify axles on racks at the assembly line for workers to pick the correct one for assembly according to the broadcast sheet for each car.
My 8.75" axle was paint stamped "565" upside down and inboard a couple of inches of the driver side spring perch. It was located on the forward side. So after assembly you would need to crawl under the car in front of the left rear wheel to view it upside down.
