The manual box takes a longer steering shaft. You probably have a power steering column in the car. There is an adapter you can buy that will let you hook up a power steering shaft to a manual box. It's not cheap but you don't have to modify anything that way.

If you don't want to buy the adapter, you'll need to find a manual steering shaft.
