Here's a pretty good test: On a new or relatively new tire, push on a tread with your thumb and attempt to compresses and bend it. Note the feel, appearance, and how much deformation is possible. Do the same on the old tire. If the old tire does not compress or bend nearly as much, it may be too hard and brittle for high speed driving, and the risk is fender damage or worse from flying pieces.


If you don't see two dolphins, you need a vacation.
