Picked up a decent '92 150 yesterday, one of the few mechanical issues it has is the fuel gauge not working. A new fuel pump was included with it, the previous owner was of the opinion that was where the problem lay. Is the sender for the gauge part of the pump, & is that the probable issue?

Since the pump in it currently is working fine I don't want to change it needlessly, nor waste my time chasing the incorrect fix.
