HI all: Been many years since I had run at the strip.

I decided the other night to go and see what my 97 Ram would do.
I only made a couple of passes.

I shut off the overdrive and wonder if that was a bad thing to do.

I did not look at the tach, but the truck was revving pretty hard the whole time.
Wonder if it needed to shift into fourth at WOT?

I did notice on my return home that every time I shut off overdrive the motor or trans had a clicking sound.

My second pass the damn strip was wet well beyond the tree resulting in a high reving tire spinning episode where I had to let off the gas and stab it again.

My 97 Ram 360 which has not been tuned up in years ran high 16's top speed 28 mph on the slip, crappy strip computer.

And the last pass 19 seconds because of poorly maintained wet or oily strip.

If I ever go again, should the Overdrive be on or off?
Alan
