I can't imagine a $29.95 spot welder being "hot enough to melt anything? but at that price it's disposible... you could try it! I use a lenco spot here... they're under $1000 and have all sorts of attachments available. For the home resto, I'm with everyone else, primer and a pencil eraser... works great...
