I alway use used plugs, fire it up , check for leaks, warm it to temp, tune it in, shut it off and check the valve adjustment, replace the plugs with new. I have found by doing this it doesn't contaminate the plugs with the extra oil from the assembly. Just the way I do it, others may differ.
