The cold air kits do work IF they draw air from outside the engine bay. I have 282,000 miles on a 2007 Ram that has had a FRAM kit. It runs clean and is still strong. The filter is an oiled K & N that I also hear people complain about but the engine keeps on running.
I do agree though that some of the electronic tuning is not cost effective. The amount of money spent to gain 11 HP to the tire is steep. The traditional methods still work though: Less restriction of the incoming air and of the outgoing exhaust."

I just hate it when I spend all this money and just go faster. What a waste.
