I picked up a 318/727 combo today. Its history is unknown. The engine date is 7*31*68, numbers on front are PM318R, and 26471273. Trans numbers are H2538333, and 2525166.
Couple of questions, is this a engine for a late 1968 , or an early 1969 application?
What might this have been in, I'm thinking Monaco or Fury.

M = Mound Rd engine assembly plant
318 = cu.in.
R = regular fuel
2647 = 10/26/68 engine assembly date
1273 = engine sequence number
727

H = ? transmission plant
2538333 = 1966 B/C-body "poly-318" transmission
2525 = 6/26/68 (is this number clear?) = assembly date
166 = sequence number
some of the early/mid-'60s dates don't follow the convention of the late '60s
looks like a '69 318 engine & '66 small block 727 transmission
the engine should have a
VIN stamped on it passenger side center above the oil pan
