A friend of mine has used that stuff for a little while now. He's making a canopy for his boat, and connecting the crossbeams to aluminum tube on either end.

He said the trick is to tin each piece, then attach them. Also make sure the joints get up to a good temperature, THEN add the weld/solder/whatever you call it.
