Even with an oe small starter I had to hit the starter cutout in the block with a carbide burr to make room on my 440 even with a 727 stock case. Another option is the 05 ram 5.7L man trans starter which is even smaller than the standard "mini-starter". It looks like it should be for a riding lawnmower but it works great.
