The shaft recess in the reproduction gears aren't deep enough to accept the manual speedo cable, that is why they are listed for the electronic sensor and not the earlier cable driven applications. The company that reproduced them didn't verify fitment before making thousands of them.
Damn, you're right. I called on a new reproduction one and the recess for the cable is only 5/8" as opposed to 1-1/8" in my old one. Does that mean I'm reduced to looking for a used 37 tooth gear? Or does someone reproduce an accurate original that I can use a cable with?
