Keep it tho as a restoration guy somewhere down the line may want it. install your dist & dial in the subsystems in order: initial/total/springs/vac adv (if used & I would). just run the black wire to the coil neg pri terminal and cut the (2) wires out you mentioned or tape em off whichever works for you



You are right as I believe that one retarded the timing at idle some. Mopar also had a setup for emissions that advanced the timing only when cranking the eng but I think it was a little smaller then that is. Ron
