I am, and always will be "pro-fewer sub-forums"

another site that I frequent, Dakota-Durango.com, has so many sub-forums, that your questions get very little exposure. sure it's nice to have a section with ALL motor questions in one spot, all suspension questions in another, etc. but if you look, you'll see threads that are 3 and 4 weeks old, only have 2, maybe 3 replies, and are 5 or 6 threads from the top.

For everyone who thinks creating a new sub-forum for whatever topic YOU think needs one...I offer the following list of why sub-forums get to be out of hand.

14 additional forums listed for site sponsors to post ads, promotions, discounts, group buys, etc. and for people to ask questions about products they sell

There's so many forums there, that you could ask a question, and it would go for DAYS before even 1 person replies to it. There's sections in there that I never go into, because they don't pertain to me, but yet, I might have the answer that someone is looking for, I just didn't see their questions.

Plus, as you can tell, one question COULD end up in 3 or 4 different areas. let's say you have a problem with your 1998 5.2L dakota, it won't stay idling. do you post it in the computer section? the 5.2L engine section, the GEN III section? the General automotive section? the trouble shooting section? the Air intake section?

Are we sure we want MORE sub-forums?
