Regarding a topic I noticed earlier one day here, about someone noticing some ugly casting flesh besides a lobe, I did some searching on the net about this.

I noticed some Eurocar (VW/BMW) camshafts have nice chamfered lobes, while most, pretty much all US camshafts have sharp lobe edges.

Of course millions of cams never had any issues. But anyone see any benefit to this and ever carefully chamfered the lobes on a flat tappet camshaft before break in, for added security to prevent wiping a lobe/digging into a lifter?
