The clamps on the front segments make the front
more rigid(stiffer). A leaf spring does 2 things
(not counting the side to side location). The
front segment is a trailing link... it holds the
rearend at a certin distance back then acts like a
lesser version of a ladder bar... you want the front
STIFF. The rear segments are the spring portion of
it(holds up the body) that you want somewhat free
moving. But if you get the front nice and stiff you
will need good shocks to control the lift of the body
that the stiff front segments will try to do
