a poly 318 would make you way cooler on cruise night!!!

They ARE a cool engine but .... parts are ruff to get PLUS they are a bigger, heavier and wider engine than a 318/340/360.

Some parts are a bit harder to locate but all parts are available. Bigger? same short block different style head that only looks bigger; heavier? maybe 30lbs due to the heads and intake; wider? looks are deceiving.
The 62-66 short block is essentially the same as post 66. And yes, you can use the stroker cranks in them!!
These engines are bullet proof. Many times they are very cheap if not free just because they look different.

.

Ummm...no. The Poly block is wider than the LA block. Otherwise there would be nothing to stop you from bolting a set of LA heads on and slide in an LA cam, and go. Bolt a set of LA heads to a poly 318 and try to bolt the LA intake on...you'll find it doesn't come anywhere near bolting up to the heads. While the cranks will interchange, and the rods, and a few other odds and ends, that's where it ends. They don't call them "Y" blocks for nothing.

2 Demons...no, not my kids!
