The thin OE type metal gaskets were made for iron heads. Some folks have had good luck using them on Al heads... but many, me included, prefer thicker composition style or Cometic MLS.
A standard Felpro blue composition gasket (.038-.040") seems to work well with BB and aluminum heads on a mild build.
