pull the yellow wire off of the starter relay to disable the starter (you know it cranks & no need to run the batt down). have a helper hold the key to start & you under the hood & see if you get near batt voltage to the coil positive primary terminal (have him try the key several times) & get the points on the cam base & open/close them & see if that makes the coil secondary wire (dist end) held 1/4" from ground produce sparks. seperate the bulkhead halves & clean the terminals. I hear Deoxit (spray I believe) is good then Koppercoat then dielectric grease on the outside would be the very best. that'll get you started
