Thanks... minivan... that worked. The pin and outside part are molded together. I had to break them apart. Then install it from the other side. Pretty easy actually.

Thanks gtx... First had to separate it (see above), it was a new replacement, how you described worked fine once the two pieces were separated. I had to use the big channel locks, it was a tight fit.

Yes - I did not think that was a good option either, especially since this is brand new glass with a significant lead time that ships with a truck freight surcharge. So when it looks like I might break something it is time to step back. So, being tired, frustrated, and a little baffled by something I thought was going to be easy I took a breather and put the question out to Moparts which has a collective IQ a bit higher than mine on my lonesome.
