There are a few books out there that can help and add useful information to the factory shop manual.
There was a book out about 30 years ago shruggy that has some good basic rebuild tips in it.
I don't know if you can find it new but I still enjoy looking through it years later. The parts and technology is a little dated but there are some tidbits you may find helpful.
