what are you putting it into? RC? short bed truck? long bed truck? club cab truck?

I had this on the brain this weekend myself

I put a 2-wheel drive 93 NV4500 5 speed into my 85 short bed truck when I replaced the cab for a 91 cab.

some FYI I run into...

can use a 727 slip yoke

trans cross member moved 2" further back in frame/differ style than the 85 2x truck.

I trimmed the stock 85 trans spool mount and turned it backwards on the trans,I trimmed the lip on the cross member to clear the rear of the trans case and bolted it to the stock 85 bolt location.

the NV4500 uses hedman #79170 to clear mini starter/bell housing/4x4

IIRC I needed to lengthen the drive shaft 2" over the stock 727 shaft.

To add a divorced xfer, you build a jackshaft with the slip yoke/solid cv yokebolted to the xfer input yoke.

the xfer can be solid mount close as possible or further back in the frame as needed.

then drive shaft measurement and pinion angles corrected for any lift being added.

a long wheel base is much better for this style, club cab/crew cab even better.

my son just got a reg cab 82 w350 d60/d70 long wheel base flat bed that looks to be on a 4x4 club/crew cab frame.

it has a np435 4 speed with a married np205 xfer,we were looking at hanging a dana200 where the carrier bearing/cross member is and build the 3 shafts to make a doubler of sorts for the mud hole.

we stopped thinking on it at the shifting linkage from cab back to 2nd xfer

in this pic the NV4500 is bolted in with the stock 85 mount backwards 180* wiith the edge of cross member trimmed for clearance.
