Here is the problem with the 383, with it's short stroke a dome piston is necessary to achieve adequate compression, with the HEAVY TRW/SPEEDPRO L2293 being discontinued there are no forged 383 dome pistons that I have seen from any of the popular manufacturers, making a custom piston pretty much a necessity. I prefer custom pistons in everything I do anyway!
