I deal with the same think in my 67. I don't think he's talking about the auto shut-off for when the tank is full not cutting the flow in time. He's talking about just trying to get a dribble of fuel into the tank without it puking back out of the hole. I've verified that my vent tube is clear and put a new gas tank in the car. still does it. tried putting the pump in at every angle possible.... still does it.
