If you break out the grinder take a little off the ear where it is in contact with the bracket. That should allow the caliper to drop down that little bit you need.

Finoke, I did the box end with a heavy thumb but I've never liked the metal to metal with thread start with a hammer especially on this small a thread . Usually if I can't get a thread or two with my fingers I want force it.

feets, yes the ear/bracket contact was the area I was implying, & I was leaning towards the ear.

Thought I would check on this cornering forum in case there was a weakness after cutting that I wasn't seeing.

I'll probably use a cut off disc to keep the heat down, & blend into their radius.

Looks like I'll have to cut equal to about half of the gap on the left side of the bolt or to where the bolt is ~.075" from that side. Or just sneak up on it with a grind & check, grind & check, etc.
