I've been down this road before, and have found that you must be very careful when looking/buying these mirrors. A lot of people post up the VAN mirrors (part #'s 4083561/4083560) as the ones that go on the trucks. But as you have seen these won't fit right, due to the concaveness of the mirror bases (meant to fit up to the body of a van). Also the distance between the mount holes are a bit wider, and won't match the metal plate that goes inside the door (the part that the mirror base bolts up to). Even the mirrors themselves won't screw into the correct mirror base, due to the threaded part being bigger than the correct mirror bases. One more thing. Their are mirrors that are very similar looking to the correct ones you need that are on eighties trucks. The correct mirror bases you are looking for are part #'s 3498610/3498611. Hope this helps you in your quest. I have pics too, if you need them.
