Thanks Bob: I can't even remember all he's done to it. He started with a stock 88, 318 Ramcharger.
Shortened 78 Pickup body.
Longer front and rear leaf springs (for more articulation).
NP205 transfer case (only 2-1 low but cast iron tough).
D60 front with a Detroit Locker.
D70 rear, welded, 4.88's.
Special driveshafts with long slip yokes (I think, I know they're trick and can go in and out a lot).
Changed all the spring/frame mounts and shackles.
Crossover steering.
Reinforced frame because of flexing due to Crossover steering etc.
He made a better steering column shaft with pieces from a Volvo semi.
68 440, 9.4-1, ported 452's with big valves, Lunati Camshaft and a Performer RPM.
Hughes convertor, rebuilt 727 (his first 727 and I wasn't even there to help).
Custom built dual gas tanks (going to change out for a fuel cell and injection for the sidehills and hills).
42 inch tires, bead locks.
Winch on the front and his second fabbed bumper.
Those are the highlights but there's a whole bunch more.
I think his next projects are a rear bumper (stronger than the last one), injection, moving the front diff forward, 4 link the back axle and of course an external cage. Those could all change though. He was going to put a doubler behind the transfer case using an NP203 but with the 440 and convertor he might not need it.
Sure a better way of spending his time and money than spending it all in the pub and driving home drunk every night.
