Because I believe its the lowest bang per buck you could choose. You're going to be into it well over a grand for just cam & lifters, and chances are it wont perform on par with a solid flat tappet at a third of the cost. I'm sure it will work just fine and if money is no object, fire away. Just considering how much you will spend, its not the direction I'd go with a big-inch RB.
So you have never run one... and your just guessing on the performance aspect... I'm well aware of the price end of it but I think it would be fine for my street/strip SB
Since you're being picky, Mike... I'll point out that I never said it wouldn't work. It will obviously work just fine. "working just fine", as you said, isn't quite what I would hope for when spending that kind of money. Thats my point, and its a point that would be shared by many.
Back to the OP, I'm glad you found a good solution for the converter question! sounds like you'll have a converter tailored to your combo for a very reasonable cost!
Since I'm being picky.. according to you.. you didnt answer the question... have you ever ran a hyd roller or not.. yeah, maybe you wont spent the money but its your guess on the power... am I correct... I'm looking at a Bullet hyd roller... but if you know for fact that it doesnt make the power of a FT cam then maybe I should look else where.... I'm talking lift to lift and the other things on any cam.... thanks if you can help me out.... I have a solid roller in it now and it a bit noisey
