Shipping weight listed in the Standard Catalog of 4x4's for a base 1985 4x4 was 4315 lbs. This is data from Chrysler.

I don't think shipping weight includes fuel, oil, etc. So weight going down the road will be higher. These figures are useful for comparison purposes though.

Shipping weight includes all fluid at correct levels with a couple gal of gas. But to a base model you have to add any options added to the base model, like AC or power steering. The extra stuff probably add up to the difference between a 4x4 and a 2x4. I'm guessing 4250 is going to be close. Gene

You could be right on how shipping weight is calculated. On several occasions, I've looked up shipping weight and then weighed an actual vehicle. In every instance, the actual weight has been at least 100 to 400 lbs. heavier than the shipping weight. Of course, if shipping weight only includes a couple of gallons of gas, a full tank of gas could add 75 to 150+ lbs. to the vehicle's weight.

For some reason, which I do not understand, the 1/2 ton pick-up trucks are often lighter than the Ramchargers.
