I have a few questions for my 1970 dude.
1. What headers work best with a big block?
2. What four speed and pistol grip shifter work best for an 833?
3. What's a better fuel tank system other than the in cab tank?
4. What to do with the front susp. And brakes while retaining the straight axle?
5. Also which oil pan? Aftermarket or stock
6. Any repro dash pads or door panels?
7. Who makes the best aftermarket rust repair?
I'm sure there will be more as I am new to the sweptlines. Thanks guys!!!

I suggest you check with www.sweptline.org (or .com ) They can provide a lot of answers. But I'll take a shot at a few of them.

2) All the Pistol Grip shifters were attached to an 833 (many trucks did NOT have an 833). The question is which one will best fit your truck. The answer is: Unless there is a specific truck pistol grip, probably none of the car ones will work well. The car floor pan is a lot closer to the trans then a truck floor pan. That additional distance will mess with you. A bench seat in your truck will make things worse.

3) Ramchargers had a rear mounted tank fit between the frame rails. You will probably need to swap out the rear crossmembers as well. Someone (not me) had an 18 gal rear tank and crossmembers for sale in the Truck swap area here, I think.

4) Remove some leafs & add a front sway bar if your truck doesn't have one. Maybe someone makes a disc brake conversion for the Sweptline trucks, I know there are kits available for the 50s beam axles. I'd start at www.rustyhope.com

5) A beam axle truck requires a different pan the any of the 72 & newer trucks (even newer 4x4s, are different then Sweptline trucks), I suspect your options will be rather limited.

6 & 7) Very few repo parts are made for the Sweptline trucks. Your best bet for finding stuff will be the Sweptline site listed above or maybe www.vintagepowerwagon.com If anyone is making parts for your truck, be thankful. They will likely be your best and only choice. Good luck. Gene
