I thought about that but I'm not so flexible these days and figure I'd just aggravate myself and accomplish nothing. I'll look at that again before I start though, it might not be as tight as I think it is.

FWIW the motor starts reliably but after a short while it starts pouring blue smoke. It could be valve seals, and it doesn't start smoking until it's pumped enough oil to the top end. But I always heard valve seals smoke at start up then it stops, the opposite of what it's doing.

The odo shows about 78k miles, but that could really be 978k for all I know.
