20yrs ago I had a Challenger with a magnum 383, 727, and 3.55's in it. I had big tires on it and didn't have a tach, but it didn't sound like I was going through the traps with much rpm so I tried a pass where I kept it in 2nd through the traps. That did sound more exciting! Got my timeslip and it was within a 1/10th of the time when shifting to drive! I think mph was about the same too.
