over on one of the charger forums, someone did back-to-back dyno pulls on a chassis dyno with 87, 89, and 93 octane in their challenger. with stock tuning, 89 made the most RWHP, around 328. 87 made about 326 and 93 made the least at about 323.

I've run both 87 and 89 in my 2011 charger R/T and haven't seen any difference in power or mileage....




When the sensor feels knock, it pulls timing out immediately and also backs off base timing. After the "knock event" base timing slowly creeps back up. It may take a full tank worth of driving to adjust base timing up when changing to fuel with higher octane. A test like this would need extended drive time on each fuel between pulls to get accurate results.
