ive never trusted compression fittings.(that's not to say I haven't used them in a pinch). the parts stores carry rolls of steel tubing, and you can get a Chinese flare kit for under $30 from harbor freight. you will be happier, safer and on the road longer if you do it right once instead of wrong over and over.
