i mangled a few as well, but finally have one that fits. it is snug against the header, so i don't even have a bracket. should probably do that, but it's in there tight.

just takes a little time and making very small bends each time. test the dipstick for travel all the way through the tube with each new bend. you will get to a point that the dipstick won't go past the major bend right before it goes into the block, and then you're kind of stuck.
