Just ask Katfish He had a Bigblock in his. First I've heard of needing a different oil pan for the swap. Even for a sb. If that's the case Id just raise the motor to clear

I done a couple of these swaps. I move engine , trans back 2.5 inches and use stock truck pans. Solves a whole lot of problems and gets a bunch of weight off the nose. Just notice how far the engine sets away from the firewall on stock dakotas.

Sorry for the hi-jack, have you found an off-the-shelf header to fit with the engine now moved back? Did you use a motor plate or fab up your own mounts? Thanks in advance.

I fab truck brackets welded to the frame, then bolt in with factory engine brackets and mounts. I keep it simple. On the small block stuff you can use dakota headers. On the big block stuff you can use engine swap headers. There no need for high dollar schumacher engine swap kits. The first one I did took me an hour to figure out and weld the brackets.
