I believe the bearing on my alternator is shot This is for a cruiser 318 car and pretty basic.

Hows it acting? sometimes an electrical fault can cause a high pitched squeal that can be mistaken for a bad bearing. If that's what's going on pull a field wire & if it gets quiet than it's an electrical issue. If not you might open it up & check/grease the end bearings. On a new one I'd just get a 78 amp unit for an 85 M body I believe. Not sure what all you've done to your wiring but I would clean ALL connections/terminals & do Nacho's 2 wire bulkhead parallel bypass (simple/easy/effective)
