In another thread, I asked about swapping intakes in the Power Wagon to gain some more power. I got the truck with a 440, 4 speed 4wd and 4.10 gears. The engine has an SP2P intake, ThermoQuad carb, stock exhaust manifolds and a 2 1/4" exhaust system. The engine has about 100,000 miles on it and runs smoothe with no smoke.
The truck falls on its face above 3000-3500 rpms. I'm certain that this SP2P is to blame, and I have 2 intakes on the shelf here that I can try. I asked previously about the "Performer" that I have, but I recently acquired a "Streetmaster 440" intake as well. The Performer is a dual plane while the SM is a single. My thoughts are that the dual plane would be a better choice because they are designed for low to mid range operation. Opinions?
I have a pair of 1 3/4" headers that I may use on the truck too.
