I just purchased a 440 from a 1967 Imperial. I was pretty excited since it was a 78,000 original mile motor. Checked the block casting date and it was 10*5*67 so I was expecting 915 heads. I just got it pulled apart today and found open chamber heads. The part number is hard to read and needs more cleaning, but looked like 26438062. The closest I can find listed anywhere is the 2843904 listed as a 68 440 head. What's more, the ID pad is stamped D440, with 10 30 bellow that and a sideways A stamped to the right of it. Wasn't D a '68 block? Anyone have any ideas?
Really bummed about it not being closed chamber heads...
