i never understood everyone running a crazy idlespeed because of rollercams. my solidroller smallblock has never had its idle higher than 8-900rpm and no problems with it at all, barely left idle for a loooooooong cruice night over 8hours and didnt see any trouble from it that time either.

just keep an eye on springpreasure and you will be fine for a long time.

I had a sb with almost exactly the same amount of miles. Sold the motor, but lifters were still in great shape as well as springs. Guides were still okay as well.

I think the high idle is something the chevy boys have had to come up with to keep there junk alive.

I have two street cars with solid roller cams, a BB mopar and a SB mopar and both are doing great.
My 440 has appox. 2500 miles on it and the SB has over 5000 street miles and appox. 40 1/4 passes at the drag strip.
I drive the SB car back and forth to work[24 mile round trip] I have made a round trip to Vegas and back and last September I did Hot Rod dragweek.
This summer I hope to make a 6000 mile trip with the SB car.
Make sure you buy very good lifters, valve springs, and rockerarms.
